Laparoscopic Ovarian Cyst Removal (also called laparoscopic cystectomy) is a minimally invasive surgery to remove a cyst from one or both ovaries using small incisions and a laparoscope (a tiny camera). 🧬 What Is an Ovarian Cyst? An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops on or inside the ovary. Most are benign (non-cancerous) and go away on their own, but some may need to be removed if they: Cause pain Are large Don't go away over time Look suspicious on imaging Affect fertility or cause hormonal issues ⚙️ What Happens in the Procedure? 3–4 small incisions are made in the abdomen. A laparoscope is inserted to view the ovaries and cyst. Surgical instruments remove the cyst while trying to preserve the ovary (if possible). The cyst is removed through one of the small incisions.
